Why Does Data Broker Scan and Removal Take So Long?
Why Data Broker Removal Takes Time
Data broker scanning and removal is an ongoing process, and it’s completely normal for it to take longer than expected. Your protection doesn’t stop after the first scan—we continuously work in the background to keep your data safe.
Initial Scan & First Removals
The initial phase typically takes 2–5 business days. During this time, we:
- Scan data broker sites to identify where your personal information appears
- Send the first round of removal requests on your behalf
This is just the beginning of the protection process.
Why Some Removals Take Longer
Not all data brokers work the same way. Delays can happen for several reasons:
- Different response times: Some brokers remove data quickly, while others may take several weeks to process requests
- Complex data sharing: Your information may exist across multiple databases, requiring confirmations from each one
- Manual reviews: Some brokers require extra verification before completing a removal
Continuous Monitoring & Protection
Data broker removal is not a one-time action—it’s a continuous process:
- We constantly monitor for new exposures
- We regularly review, verify, and add new data brokers to improve coverage
- As our protection improves, you may occasionally see more data brokers appear in your app
This does not mean your data is less safe. It means our system is finding and protecting you from more sources.
What You Need to Know
- ✅ Your removal process has already started
- ✅ We’re actively working on your protection at all times
- ✅ You don’t need to take action or worry if the process isn’t “complete” yet
Tracking Your Data Removal Progress
You can check the status of each individual data broker directly in the app at any time.
You may also see a moving circle indicator, which means we’re actively working on your protection. Even if there are no visible changes at the moment, our team and systems are continuously scanning, monitoring, and sending removal requests behind the scenes to reduce your data exposure.
Protection Percentage on the Main Screen
On the main screen, you may also see your Protection level shown as a percentage. Please note that this percentage is not directly tied to data broker removal progress.
Instead, it reflects the number of protection features currently active on your device, such as:
- Identity Protection
- SMS Protection
- Call Protection
These features work together to help protect you in real time, alongside data broker removal.
