How to Activate SMS Protection in Control+
Unwanted text messages are one of the most common cyber threats today. Hackers use them to trick people into clicking malicious links, sharing personal information, or downloading harmful apps. To protect you from these risks, Control+ offers SMS Protection, which automatically filters suspicious messages and sends them to your Junk folder.
Note: SMS Protection is currently available on iOS only.
Steps to Activate SMS Protection
- Open the Control+ app and go to the Home screen.
- Tap SMS Protection under Your services, then tap Set up.
- Adjust your phone settings:
- Go to Settings → Apps → Messages.
- Select Unknown & Spam.
- Turn on Filter Unknown Senders.
- Choose Control+ as your filtering app.
Once these steps are complete, SMS Protection will be active.
How SMS Protection Works
When SMS Protection is enabled, Control+ automatically checks:
- Message sender — to verify legitimacy.
- Message content — to identify suspicious wording or requests.
- Links inside messages — to detect malicious websites.
Any message that looks fraudulent is sent directly to your Junk folder instead of your inbox.
Reviewing Blocked Messages
You're always in control. If a genuine message is mistakenly filtered:
- Open your Junk folder in Control+.
- Review the blocked messages.
- If a message is safe, add the sender's number to your contacts so it won't be blocked again.
Why SMS Protection Matters
Spam texts aren't just annoying — they can lead to identity theft, account breaches, or financial loss. With SMS Protection, Control+ gives you an extra layer of defense by keeping dangerous messages out of your main inbox, so you can focus on what really matters.
